i'm ranting

this week is supposed to be recess week, but today is the only day i have at home. sun was spent at church till 5pm, and then international students ministry. (i adopted two new chinese buddies!) yesterday was FT fine dining in the afternoon, followed by DG day out. Mediacorp was there at our fine dining, and it was interesting to see the way they filmed. DG day out was great bonding, even though turnout was not as good as we hoped it would be.

this evening i'll be gg for drums. it takes me an hour to get there and one and a half hours to get home (the rush hour traffic). tomorrow morning st nicks!! going back there to consult d&t teacher regarding a project that i'm doing now. we're supposed to come up w a new product for the class entrepreneurship and business creation, and my group's idea is a two in one toothbrush. there will be a compartment to put in the toothpaste, and the user will have to press something and the toothpaste will be pushed onto the bristles. but we have no idea how to do it at all! which explains my trip my trip back to st nicks w cheryl. then i'll head back to sch for ethics projcet meeting, and then to church for worship prac.

then thursday will be spent at kinderart! going to help with some tally of art bags. and then it'll be band prac, then off to xian's 21st, which means not enough slp again, since it's chalet.

fri will be spent in sch in the morn for proj meeting, and in the afternoon i'll be meeting my PRI sch friends for karaoke! at night's father's birthday dinner. (seafood yay!)

that's my week, packed. the more packed my days get, the shorter my fuse too. i'm a slacker by nature, and i don't enjoy having my time so tightly packed. i love doing nothing!

-.- n i don't like being sick. it sucks energy out of me. -.-

good thing i spent the last saturday at a slow pace, with shi en and meihui, before the busy-ness started. we went to the flyer, only to realise that the free stb tickets had been fully redeemed. so we just spent the night walking and chatting away. and there was the free outdoor performance at esplanade!

i never thought i would be saying this but i can't wait for this week to be over. i think i'll actually be less busy after the recess week. (huh! so weird!) alright. now i've to get started on the projects n all. time, i want more of you!

the valentines in my life!!

she hui
xian
mich
ling
jc
renny

friends that bring out the silliest and most unglam sides of each other. friends in whose company i feel secure enough to do lots of stupid things. friends i know who'll love me even though i wrote valentine's day as birthday. :P friends i know will meet up at 80 of age, and hear xian laugh like the old lady at the other table.

It was an interesting night, and proof of the bond between us. we're really a bunch of really different people who share a deep bond. listening to mich's drama love story in the fantastic ambience of the restaurant, drowning out the rest of the restaurant with our loud voices and laughter, laughing at xian laughing (even videoing her-jc's idea!) and talking abt cruelty of the zoo. renny would have loved to be there. oh how could i forget the very unglam cam whoring at central.

cranes, stars, chocolates, polaroids, flowers. its a fraction of what we had in st nicks, but it means so much more when it's been what, 6 yrs down the road? :)

as requested:

Food #03

The exhibition next to the restaurant. Titled Dreams, mix media, by NTU professor, Ina. The work was truly impressive, and the fact that she spent 3 years working on it shows how much determination and passion she had for it.

ling (who was asked not to put up the v sign)

mich n i

us and the creator of the art pieces

this time round w ling in it
jc is actually smiling into the camera! without the menu covering her face!

i don't know what we were trying to do

the natural lighting from outside the window plus the orange light of the restaurant combined was really beautiful. my camera doesn't do justice to it. sighs. but xian looks so relaxed and happy. :)

again, my cam doesn't do justice to the beautiful light at that moment

their light is really special. so earthy. and i didn't take a pic of the basin outside the toilet. it was a showerhead, with old school mirror. i loved the toilet space!

this is the best creamy mushroom pasta i've ever eaten :D

polaroids for presents! (thanks adora for reminding that i had a polaroid. hahs)

Lingyi the spider man -.- i actually have more shots of her attempting the same thing. (she's sticking flat to the glass btw) but this is the most glam of all those and i decided to be nice to her haha.

shehui is blowing through one end of the usb and jingchuan is blown away by the strong gust of shehui breath!!! save her!!!

i was pretending to propose to xian

then we bai nian to xian

and then we were having jiao bei jiu with the flower pots. damn, now this sounds stupid. how can something that was so much fun sound so stupid now! haha!

i don't know what look this qing ren of mine was trying to achieve.

anonymous hand behind shehui. i think it was ling

the anonymous hand again!

haha i like jc's pose!

lingyi's trying to act chaste. i'm trying to pull her shirt off her shoulder. disclaimer: her shirt had been falling off the entire night.

shehui the ah lian

1, 2, 3, 4, 5! we were infected by xian's act-cute-ness

the true lingyi

no THIS is the true lingyi!!

anyone feeling down, pls feel free to watch this vid. i'm pretty sure u'll laugh along w her :D n quoting ling in the vid, pls do not turn down the volume of your television.......

video

on a sidenote, thanks pear for the necklace and est for the card. :) it seems i've special affinity w these two sisters. :)

n i went for a much needed jog this evening. :) which made me a lot happier n took away the fatigue of today. its not easy to serve for two services in one morning, with worship prac after that n then DG. but the jog made it better :)

a lil entertainment

I chanced upon her blog quite awhile back, n its been in my bookmark list ever since. i think jessica claire is a great photographer. best wedding photos i've seen by far. and nope i'm NOT dreaming abt weddings n stuff. n i'm not trying to marry myself off. i'm enjoying my life now, though its a busy one. but i really love her photography.
previous posts made by her (which are now in the archive) are a lot more energetic, but i still love her photos all the same.
n such beautiful photos make great breaks in studyng :)
albeit a lil mean, these posts more often than not spice up my studying nights! n its great they update almost daily.
n thus are the lil efforts to entertain myself :D

YESTERDAY

went to the reservoir at yishun (the one that's visible from mrt) to have quiet time w lanfang. its a great place! very quiet, apart from th swishing noise of the fishing rods that made us jump. we were sitting on the extended jetty like thing. wooden planks separated us from the water. beautiful place :)

we even saw aeroplanes!! the lil black dot in the mid of photo is it :D

3 hours of quality time. need i say more? :):):)

when i'm in heels i'm a snail

disclaimer: i think i won't really make sense in this post

anyway, i was in heels from 7.45am to 11pm today. n my feet hurt. n i walked like a snail. the more the day progressed, the slower i walked. for a gd 2 hrs i was in grandma-stockings (shopping for presents w ting en) but i took them off when i was back in sch cos they looked so ugly. call me vain. -.-

while i was limping home in the high heels that weren't actually very high, (must be the slope of it that's abit off) i thought about why women wear heels. did some googling, and saw this on a website:

'High heels are associated with sex. Japanese courtiers had clogs of 15 to 30 cm, Chinese concubines and Turkish odalisques had high sandals possibly to prevent them from escaping from the harem, and prostitutes of Old Rome were identified by their high heels.'

hearing shehui, renny n jc talk abt their sociology classes must've gotten to me. the first heels developed in 1533, and were for both men and women, as a manifestation/showcase of their wealth and status, which also led to the term well heeled. 'Both men and women continued wearing heels as a matter of noble fashion throughout the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. When the French Revolution drew near, in the late 1700s, the practice of wearing heels fell into decline in France due to its associations with wealth and aristocracy. ' heels then re-emerged in late 1800s, but only among women. why?! and why did high heels become associated with sex when it started off as a symbol of wealth? n today, what does it represent in society? i'm sure individuals have different reasons for wearing heels, but the society generally relates to heels as a good thing. sexy? powerful? authority?

i don't where all this rambling is leading to, but i wished i had more time to research on it, n to form my thoughts properly.

but for now anymore thinking would just lead to rubbish since my brian is only half awake. n there's no time to finish revision/assignment as it is. so this rambling will not be taken any further.
